Space Rangers 2 - The Background (Page 2 of 5)

The main events of this second part of Space Rangers unfold 200 years after the end of the Klissan War - in 3300. Humankind is maintaining diplomatic relations with four other developed civilizations in the Galaxy: the Maloqs, the Pelengs, the Faeyans, and the Gaalians.

This time a new and an even more dangerous force is threatening the Galaxy. A new extremely hazardous cyber-life form appears on one of the planets that used to be under Klissan control - powerful combat robots, who are not only capable of carrying out orders given to them but also have an intellect of their own! Controlled by their own programs these battle machines have entered space spreading fear and terror across all inhabited worlds. Thanks to the humans these robots became known as the Dominators.

The civilized world is forced to confront the oppression of the three Dominator types: the Blazeroids, the Kelleroids and the Terronoids. To the advantage of the Coalition Forces these three branches of machine evolution are at war with each other!

The concept of freedom of choice, which was a characteristic feature of the first release of Space Rangers, was not only kept in Space Rangers 2 but has been taken much further. The game does not limit you to certain scenarios, but rather gives you the possibility to influence its course. The game world (that has become much larger compared to the first game) is living and constantly developing according to its own laws: systems are being conquered and liberated, pirates are looting civil ships, governments are being overthrown on different planets, and scientists are making new discoveries.

In "Space Rangers 2" the player also has the chance to prove his superiority not only in space, but on the planet surface as well. Planetary battles are 3-D real-time strategy. Using the fire-power of the combat robots, the player will have to stand up to the Dominators - the intelligent war machines that know no mercy.
